Creighton University
Creighton University's Annual Lūʻau, hosted by the Hawaiʻi Club, is an opportunity to share the culture, foods, history, and gifts of the Hawaiian Islands with the rest of the Creighton community.
POSITION
For the past 64 years, Creighton's Hawaiʻi Club has hosted a lūʻau in late March where we can share the aloha spirit. The programming consists of local, hawaiian style food made by a chef who is flown up to Nebraska from Hawaiʻi, along with live hula dancing by students, and a "country-store" which sells Hawaiʻi-made goods like snacks, jewelry, and leis.
As one of the lūʻau PR and Ticket sales chairs, my focus is on designing the deliverables that will be used to promote the event, from flyers to table tents and TV graphics. In addition, I created a "behind the scenes of lūʻau 2022" video and re-designed the lūʻau website for each year's theme. With this being our largest club fundraiser, making enough money from the event is also extremely important, and I was able to analyze previous lūʻau sales data and expenses to create various income statements and make changes to the prices of tickets. It is so much fun to be able to share the Hawaiian culture with the Creighton community.
